Rockbeare Manor Win Prestigious Gold Award

After a very stringent judging process, in November 2023 the team at Rockbeare Manor were over the moon to receive a gold award in the category for Wedding Venue of the Year.

The competition is now in its 14th year and has continued to develop and modernise to reflect the ongoing innovation across tourism.

All glammed up - representatives from all departments attended the awards dinner and a wonderful time was had by all. From left to right in the photo above we have:

What has been most touching, is the feedback that we have recieved from the judges and we'd like to share some of those comments with you.

Judges Comments

Testimonial

"I was completely bowled over at this world-class venue.

The GM Davy and lead chef Ben are an inspiration to all who work at the property, they will inspire the apprentices, are ultimate professionals in every respect. It was a complete pleasure to meet them.

I came away in a cloud of admiration and felt really thrilled that there are companies like this in operation, doing everything to the highest possible standard in every area. The bridal party and guests will be stunned at the location, property and service topped up with in-house home-made locally produced locally sourced delights, but they will feel extremely safe in the knowledge that their wedding day is going to be run without a hitch and they really will have the most memorable day of their lives. The strap line is “it’s all about you”. Stunning. Simply stunning."

Catagory Specific Comments

"Rockbeare Manor will exceed the expectations of the pickiest and most demanding of couples! I was absolutely bowled over with this beautiful manor set in the most fabulous rural surroundings with the natural rolling Devon landscape as far as the eye can see.

This property is also the most wonderful example as a natural promotion of the best that Devon can offer in both building and landscape. The decor would exceed any brides or grooms expectations, along with fabulous on trend extras, such as slipper baths in bedrooms (as well as en-suites), and Penhaligon toiletries.

The in-house chefs providing a selection of menus for various budgets and dietary requirements, Events Managers, who quite clearly are prepared for any eventuality that is thrown at them.

This is without a shadow of a doubt, probably one of the most professional, outstanding venues I have had the pleasure to have visited in many years. Absolutely world-class."

Cleanliness

"Faultless.

The Ballroom was being set up for a wedding with sparkling glasses, weighted cutlery and pristine white tablecloths. Staff in uniform with smile and acknowledgement. I visited the toilets which are immaculate and inspected numerous bedrooms as well as the function rooms. The gardens are beautifully kept with banks of flowers. The condition of the property ensures beautiful photographs from every angle of the property inside and out."

Strengths

"A stunning property well away from neighbours.

The opportunity for the couple to be married inside the manor or in the garden, depending on the weather.

Accommodation for those with mobility issues and the ability to get around as an event is all on ground floor.

The opportunity for bride to arrive day before and stay in separate cottage with adjoining beauty studio.

In-house accommodation for many guests and links to other local accommodation.

In-house catering.

A core staff, plus bank of local part time staff for waitressing and housekeeping."

It's fair to say that we were astouned by these wonderful comments, and very very proud. We feel very lucky to work with a team that is so driven to do their absolute best by every Bride, Groom, Guest or Client that visits Rockbeare Manor. We will go above and beyond to ensure everyone's experience is the best that it can possibly be and our thanks must go to the team at the Devon Tourism Awards for taking so much time to find out about Rockbeare Manor and what makes it tick!
